“I live to travel and I travel to live” is Vicky’s favourite quote. Vicky Vamiedakis has been a Travel and Tourism editor for two decades now. Born and raised in Crete, the ultimate summer destination in Greece, she learned from an early age to be patient enough through mild winters and waited for summer to arrive, bringing along all those new people to her city. She studied to become a Tourist Agent and her favorite class was airport codes!
She worked for many years as an editor in the most prestigious financial newspaper in Greece, "Nafteboriki", mostly reporting on the tourism industry from a business scope. At the same time, she worked as the head of production for various tv and radio travel and tourism shows at TV and radio. She has also edited various travel specials on magazines such as “Ef Zin” and “Vimadonna” and was the chief editor for the travel magazine “Travel X-Perience”. Last but not least, she has worked as a travel editor in the well-known Athens city guide “Athinorama” and its online version www.athinorama.gr , as well as the biggest travel guide in Greece, “Alpha Guide”. An important milestone in her career was when she became the lead presenter at the real life primetime show “Hotel Inspector” (a British television Channel 5’s show) broadcasted at Alpha Greek TV (a member of RTL Group). Through the show she finally had the chance to communicate to the world her real passion for hotels. Today she works as a travel and tourism editor at PrimeMedia, at some of the most notorious portals in Greece, such as newsbeast.gr and news.gr
She is passionate for all aspects of Travel journalism but cannot hide her weak spot for hotels. She constantly travels around the world, seeking originality, authentic experiences, innovation and the details that make all of the above worth living. At her spare time she is looking at her bags and luggage for leftover hotel keys and boarding passes that she fondly collects.
